SUSTAINABLE LIGHTING

With the advent of sustainable lighting and a goal of reducing the earth’s “Global Carbon Footprint”, LED and Induction lighting systems have become big “Buzz” words today, especially for Municipal agencies that are looking to find a new solution for their current street light inventory and by going “Green”.

With an onslaught of lighting terminology circulating throughout the industry, terms such as BUG Ratings, Kelvin Temperature, LM-79, Drive Current, Thermal Management, Scotopic and Photopic Vision (to name a few) have become not only very common, but also very confusing to many . And with the number of lighting vendors that seem to crawl out of the woodwork daily, with claims to having the best solution for street lighting, Municipal agencies are looking to the experts in the lighting field to help them decipher through all of this information, interpret their meanings and help them find the best lighting solution for their street applications.

To this end, Visual Concepts INC has provided this Web page to help our Municipal client’s understand where the industry is heading, what these terms represent and assist them in the finding a lighting solution that fits their needs. Also, as you view this page, remember this FACT: Every light source is application specific. There is not one light source that fits every scenario. No “One size fits all”.
